Zipp 858 NSW Carbon Tubeless Road Bike Rear Wheel

Pure speed for triathlon, time trial and aggressive road cycling is the objective of the 858 NSW wheelset. To go faster than ever before, the wheels, trimmed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, rely on the Total System Efficiency (TSE) concept, which combats the four biggest obstacles of high speeds: air resistance, gravity, rolling resistance and vibratory losses.

The 858 NSW wheels offer the aerodynamic benefits of tall rims at a weight normally achieved with a 20 mm lower profile height. This is made possible by ZIPP's Carbon Internal Reinforcement (CiR) technology, which achieves a weight reduction of 10 percent, or 280 grams, over the previous model without compromising rim stability. The undulating rim shape with slightly iridescent profile height, in concert with the sophisticated ABLC Sawtooth™ Dimple Design, which on the 858 NSW features different sized Hyperfoil dimples in a HexFin arrangement, results in ZIPP's highest-performing design in terms of aeroefficiency and crosswind stability.

While the combination of Tubeless technology with Hookless rim flanks provides a seamless transition between tire and rim, the combination of Tubeless concept and 23 mm inner width allows riding wider tires and with lower pressure – for less rolling resistance and better cornering grip. Especially in triathlon, this smoother ride makes itself felt positively by sparing the legs for the subsequent run. The highest speeds achieve the ZIPP 858 NSW Disc wheels with 28 mm wide tires. Despite the Tubeless optimization, it is possible to use Tubeless tires in combination with a tube.

At the heart of the 858 NSW wheels are the Cognition V2 hubs, which are not only characterized by reliability and long durability, but thanks to Axial Clutch technology also reduce resistance and friction for an even more spontaneous response. Thanks to their orientation to disc brakes, reliable speed control and adequate braking power is guaranteed in all weather conditions.
